RECOMMENDED BREEDERS
HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO CHECK OUT THE BREEDER?
If you don't have any other pet birds and you are unlucky to purchase a sick bird, you will have the heartache to see that one bird suffer and maybe die. Maybe entailing substantial vet bills. But if you already OWN other birds you have to be ESPECIALLY CAREFUL -- because you really DON'T want to go through the heart-breaking sorrow of seeing them ALL die, if you introduce a "Typhoid Mary" to your flock. And "Typhoid Mary" doesn't have to look sick. It could be a healthy looking CARRIER of a disease. In any case, caution is indicated. ANY new bird should be tested and quarantined.
If you know of any good breeders who both test and quarantine newly purchased birds and take otherwise good care of their birds please let me know. I would appreciate hearing from any MAP-certified breeders so I can include them under "Recommended Breeders".The following breeders have been recommended. If you don't find anyone near you, contact any of them to get a referral to another conscious breeder, or -- if you are on a avian mailinglist or meet other "bird people", ask for a referral.

I am committed to only recommending breeders who adhere to an excellent standard of exotic bird care, and who understand the importance of not just selling but also educating buyers on the care requirements of the particular species of bird they have required. I reserve my right to remove anyone from the webpages who has proven to have a poor track record in any of the areas of bird care, buyer education and/or ethical business practices. This page will be continuously updated to hopefully -- in the future -- provide an up-to-date list of reliable breeders.
If you know of a breeder that provides the desirable level of care and disease preventative measures, please submit your recommendation. Please note that negative information will not be publicized for legal reasons, and also to protect breeders who are falsely excused. However, if you have had a bad experience with any breeder recommended on this website, please let me know. This information will help in collect information and if a negative pattern is established the breeder will be removed from the "Recommended" list.
